Privacy Policy

How Web Tidy handles website analytics, support communications, browser-extension data, local storage, sharing, retention, and privacy requests.

This Privacy Policy explains how Web Tidy handles information when you visit webtidy.net, use a Web Tidy browser extension, or contact us for support. Web Tidy is responsible for the information described in this policy unless another notice says otherwise.

1. Scope

This policy applies to Web Tidy websites, the Instagram Follower Exporter and Instagram Comments Exporter browser extensions, and related support communications.

It does not govern Instagram, Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, or other third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. You are responsible for having a lawful basis and any required permission to access, export, or use third-party data.

2. Short Version

  • The current extensions do not require a Web Tidy account or payment.
  • Export rows, task state, settings, and recent history are stored locally in your browser. Completed CSV or XLSX files are downloaded to your device.
  • The extensions use your existing Instagram browser session. Web Tidy does not ask you to paste an Instagram password, cookie, or access token.
  • Web Tidy does not receive the Instagram rows you export through the current extensions.
  • The website uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate page usage. We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information.

3. Information We Handle

3.1 Website and technical information

When you visit webtidy.net, our hosting and analytics providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, approximate country, page path, referrer, and visit time. We use this information to deliver the site, diagnose problems, protect the service, and understand aggregate usage.

The website may store a theme or similar display preference in your browser's local storage. Our current website does not create a Web Tidy account, accept payment, or use advertising cookies.

3.2 Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and the message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide. Please do not send Instagram passwords, cookies, access tokens, or exported files unless they are necessary for a support request and you are permitted to share them.

3.3 Extension data

When you start an export, the extension processes the Instagram page or list available to your current browser session. Depending on the product, this may include profile identifiers, usernames, names, profile links, profile image links, relationship indicators, comment text, post identifiers, timestamps, reply relationships, source links, and collection metadata.

The extension also stores operational data locally, including settings, task status, progress, cursors, deduplication keys, recent history, and file metadata. This information is used to run, pause, resume, review, and download the task you requested.

Neither extension requests Chrome's cookies or identity permission. The current extensions do not load remote executable code, automate likes, replies, or follows, or attempt to bypass Instagram access controls.

5. How We Use Information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the website and the export action you request;
  • save local settings, show task progress and history, and create downloadable files;
  • respond to support requests and product feedback;
  • measure aggregate website usage and improve reliability;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent abuse or security incidents; and
  • comply with applicable law and protect our users, Web Tidy, and others.

We do not use extension export data for advertising, credit decisions, data brokerage, or unrelated profiling.

6. Local Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Extension results and task data remain in your browser profile unless you delete them, clear the extension's storage, or uninstall the extension. Current task history is limited to 20 entries. Downloaded CSV and XLSX files remain wherever your browser or device saved them until you delete them.

Removing local extension data does not delete copies you previously downloaded, copied, shared, or imported elsewhere. Clearing browser data or uninstalling an extension may permanently remove local task history.

Website analytics are retained according to our provider's settings and policies. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, keep necessary business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal and security obligations.

7. Disclosure and Service Providers

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose limited information to:

  • Vercel, which hosts the website and provides privacy-focused website analytics;
  • Google and the Chrome Web Store, when needed to distribute, review, secure, or operate the extension marketplace listing;
  • professional advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or investigate abuse; and
  • a successor in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Instagram content processed locally by an extension is not uploaded to these providers by Web Tidy as part of the export workflow.

8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Our use and transfer of information obtained from Chrome extension APIs is limited to providing and improving the user-facing extension features described on the relevant Chrome Web Store listing and in this policy.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We do not transfer extension user data for personalized advertising, sell it to data brokers, use it for lending or credit decisions, or allow humans to read it except when you give specific consent for support or security purposes, when it is necessary to address abuse or comply with law, or when the data has been aggregated and de-identified.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform the service you request, pursue legitimate interests such as security and product reliability, comply with legal obligations, or act with your consent. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law permits or requires it.

For extension data stored only on your device, you control it directly through the extension, Chrome's extension and site-data controls, downloaded-file management, or uninstalling the extension. Because Web Tidy does not receive that local data, we generally cannot retrieve or delete it for you.

You can stop Vercel Analytics processing on our site by using browser or network-level blocking controls. You can also avoid sending support information by not emailing us.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the current service, including limited extension permissions, local processing, fixed host access, and no remote executable code. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your browser profile, Instagram session, device, and downloaded files.

12. Children

Web Tidy is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our products, providers, or legal obligations change. We will revise the effective date above and provide additional notice when required by law.
