WA Blur is a WhatsApp Web privacy helper for visually masking private page content during demos, customer calls, or screen recordings.

Quick start

  1. Open WhatsApp Web.
  2. Open the Web Tidy popup and choose Privacy -> Blur.
  3. Turn on the global blur switch.
  4. Choose which page areas to mask.
  5. Confirm the page is safe before sharing or recording.

What it does

WA Blur is for visible page masking on WhatsApp Web. It applies a local visual privacy layer so people watching your screen cannot easily read private content. It is not a scraper, sender, account-control tool, CRM, or backup product.

What it changes

The popup exposes these controls:

  • Global enabled switch.
  • Hover reveal.
  • No transition delay.
  • Chat list messages or previews.
  • Chat list avatars.
  • Chat list names.
  • Chat window messages.
  • Chat window media preview.
  • Media gallery.
  • Text input.
  • Blur amount from 1 to 40.
  • Unblur all on app hover.
  • Runtime status refresh and reset.

Default behavior turns on the global layer, message blur, chat preview blur, hover reveal, no-delay transitions, and an 8px blur amount.

Permissions and privacy

WA Blur should stay scoped to local visual privacy on web.whatsapp.com. It does not need your WhatsApp password, does not export chat data, does not send messages, and should not claim cloud sync or AI processing.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that the extension is enabled on WhatsApp Web.
  • Refresh runtime status from the Blur panel if the popup cannot see WhatsApp Web.
  • Refresh the page if the blur layer does not apply after a major WhatsApp Web UI change.
  • Review the visible page before every call or recording.
