Instagram Post Sorter vs Instagram Insights
Choose a current-session public profile shortlist or owner-side Instagram Insights by the question, metric, access, and output you need.
On This Page
Use INS Sorter when your question is, “Among the posts currently loaded from this accessible profile, which should I inspect first by Likes, Comments, Views, or Date?” Use Instagram Insights when an owned-account question requires reach, saves, shares, audience, or conversion evidence. The sorter creates a temporary visual shortlist in the current tab; Insights answers private, owner-side performance questions. Combine them only when you need both public-surface discovery and owned-account validation.
The boundary between the two
INS Sorter works on one supported Instagram profile grid visible to the current Chrome session and only on cards loaded in that run. It sorts Likes, Comments, Views, or Date in either direction. Its ranks, badges, and order are temporary local presentation.
Here, Instagram Insights means the native analytics surface actually available to an eligible owned account. Fields, windows, eligibility, and navigation can change, so verify them in the current account UI. Neither route guarantees complete history, bypasses privacy controls, exposes a competitor's private metrics, or edits the public grid.
Write the question before choosing the tool
State four things: whose account is being studied, the one field the answer requires, whether you need a current shortlist or cross-time evidence, and whether the deliverable is a visual review or a durable report. If the field is owner-only, a public-profile sorter does not own the evidence. If you only need a fast shortlist, a private analytics workflow may be unnecessary.
Ten-question decision table
A safe combined workflow is: sort a bounded loaded set by one field, open the Top 3 source posts for qualitative review, and—only for an owned account—check owner-side evidence for those same posts and an explicit time window. Never fill missing reach with public Likes or call the loaded set “lifetime top posts.”
Verification checklist
- Write the question and its one required field.
- Label that field public-card evidence or owner-only evidence.
- For a sorter run, record profile, field, direction, loading target, and terminal state; open the Top 3 source posts.
- For Insights, record account ownership, the current UI definition, and its window.
- If combining, keep two source columns and reject a cross-surface composite score.
Limits
“All” means the current page continued until no new unique card appeared or the run ended; it is not a complete-history promise. Virtualization can make cumulative scanned and currently sortable counts differ. Missing stays missing. INS Sorter creates no CSV, JSON, XLSX, report, or dashboard, performs no continuous monitoring, reads no private Insights, and changes no public grid.
The three external sources below help compare tool-selection structures. Their plan, history, export, and eligibility claims are not SKU10 facts.
What to do next
If the answer is a temporary visual shortlist from one accessible profile's loaded set, start with INS Sorter. If the required field is owner-side, use the Insights surface currently available to the authorized account. Adjacent cluster pages are not public, so this article does not create placeholder links.
Frequently asked questions
Can INS Sorter replace Instagram Insights?
No. It sorts visible fields on a current profile grid; it does not provide reach, saves, shares, audience, or conversion.
Can Insights reveal a competitor's private performance?
Do not assume that. This comparison uses Insights only for an authorized owned account.
Are Views the same as reach?
No. Preserve the field name: observed Views are not unique reach.
Why not use a composite score?
The fields answer different questions and can have different access, windows, and denominators. A score would hide missing and incomparable evidence.
