Instagram Post Sorter Missing Views, Likes, or Comments
Classify the symptom before acting: missing means the current card has no verifiable field evidence; zero means the page explicitly shows 0; decreased requires two recorded values for the same post, field, and public surface. Never convert missing to zero, fill it from another metric or provider, or call a lower value a decrease without a comparable before/after record.
INS Sorter reads visible Likes, Comments, Views, and Date evidence from cards in the currently loaded, accessible profile grid and temporarily sorts them in your browser. It has no private Insights, cross-provider reconciliation, unknown metrics, or continuous monitoring.
The three-state classification
Public cards, owner Insights, APIs, and third-party providers are different surfaces. Their values are not interchangeable measurements. Third-party documents can show that availability and definitions vary, but they cannot supply a value for SKU10.
Metric-evidence diagnosis tree
START: Views / Likes / Comments looks wrong on a card
├─ No evidence for that field on this card?
│ └─ Mark missing → never fill with zero
├─ Card explicitly shows 0?
│ └─ Record zero → do not extend it to other surfaces
├─ Merely lower than a different post?
│ └─ Sorting difference, not decreased → stop diagnosis
├─ Lower than an earlier record for the same post?
│ ├─ Same surface, URL, field, and traceable times → observed decrease
│ └─ Anything differs → incomparable; do not explain a cause
├─ Comparison came from Insights/API/another provider?
│ └─ Label provider/surface difference → do not reconcile
└─ Most cards lack the same field?
└─ Choose a better-evidenced supported field or stop that sortFive checks and three stop conditions
- Name the exact field: Views, Likes, Comments, or Date—not generic “engagement.”
- Record the same source-post URL and card type; a similar post is not a substitute.
- Label the surface as
public profile grid; list Insights, API, exports, or dashboards separately. - Record zero only when explicitly displayed; otherwise preserve missing.
- If the field is broadly missing, sort by a better-evidenced supported field or stop.
Stop if access would require bypassing login/private restrictions, if a different provider must be used to fill a blank, or if there is no comparable before/after record but someone asks for a decrease explanation.
Verification record
A valid record names the field, matches the post URL, labels the surface/provider, supports the classification directly, and contains no interpolation or cause guess.
Limits and next step
Visible page metrics are not private Insights and need not match owner, API, or third-party numbers. INS Sorter cannot know an undisplayed value, reconcile sources, create trends, or watch for later changes. Its result covers only the currently loaded set.
If a field is broadly missing, choose a supported field with better evidence or stop that sort. If the entire run has zero candidates, use the zero-candidate branch in the general not-working checklist. When the supported profile has verifiable card evidence, open the INS Sorter product page.
FAQ
Is a missing Views value zero?
No. Zero requires an explicit displayed 0; absent evidence remains missing.
Can Likes be used to estimate Views?
No. There is no verified conversion between fields in this workflow.
Why can Insights and the public profile differ?
They are different surfaces with potentially different definitions, visibility, and update timing. This page labels the difference; it does not invent a cause.
Can a lower number prove engagement was removed?
No. A comparable same-post record can establish an observed decrease, but not its cause.
