Instagram Post Sorter: Count vs Date Range
Choose Count for comparable sample sizes or Date Range for a campaign window, with sampling bias, stop rules, and loaded-set limits.

Choose Count when you need approximately equal sample sizes across profiles. Choose Date Range when the question is about a campaign, month, quarter, or publishing period. Count can cover different time spans on different profiles; Date Range can produce very different row counts. Neither proves complete history.
Decision table
Count options are 25 / 50 / 100 / 200 / 1,000 / All. Date Range options are 1 week / 1 month / 3 months / 6 months / 1 year / All. Count targets unique posts observed cumulatively; Date Range compares the oldest collected parseable date with a runtime cutoff.
Same count does not mean same period
If profile A posts daily, its latest 50 rows might cover seven weeks. If profile B posts weekly, 50 rows might cover nearly a year. Count improves row-count comparability but mixes time spans. It is the right choice only when the goal truly is “take the same number of candidates.”
Same period does not mean same count
In one month, profile A may expose 60 posts while profile B exposes eight. Date Range preserves the time question and accepts unequal samples. Report both the requested window and the actual loaded count.
Control definitions
One month uses calendar-month subtraction, not a fixed “30 days” label. If dates are missing, the run cannot use those rows to prove the cutoff was fully covered.
Verification workflow
- Write the goal: equal-sized candidates or one time window.
- Choose Count for the former and Date Range for the latter.
- Pick a boundary you can manually inspect; do not default to All.
- Record start time, target, profile URL type, and sort field.
- Watch progress and use Stop when the set is sufficient.
- Record actual
scanned, current candidates, and oldest/newest dated posts. - Report target, actual set, early-stop reason, and missing-date count.
Limits
The workflow only reads cards the supported profile exposes to the current browser session. It does not bypass login, challenge, private access, or layout limits. Virtualization can make cumulative scanned higher than the currently mounted and sorted cards. A date range can end early when no new unique card appears.
Other pages describe exports, APIs, owner analytics, and custom time windows. Those architectures do not become INS Sorter features. INS Sorter produces a temporary grid view, not a report or persistent dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
Should competitor profiles all use Count 100?
Only if equal-sized candidate sets matter more than equal time spans and you can inspect that volume.
Does 1 month mean exactly 30 days?
No. The current runtime subtracts one calendar month from the run time.
Does All return complete account history?
No. It removes the preset target but remains bounded by current-session loading and terminal conditions.
Can a stopped result still be used?
Yes, as an explicitly labeled partial loaded set with its actual count and stop reason.
